• What is Somerset Storyfest?

Somerset a county rich in folklore, culture, the arts and tradition now has its own storytelling festival

We have googled the internet annals of time and found no previous festival of its kind so this could be the county's first, if not please get in touch and tell us what we've been missing

Somerset Storyfest 2012 has drawn on its own array of professional and experienced storytellers from the rivers of Langport to the hills in the west, from the borderlands and mining towns of the north to the flatlands around Glastonbury

As this is our first year we have decided to start small, working in and around the county's capital of Taunton with existing links. In subsequent years we are hoping to keep a base in Taunton, whilst branching out to other areas of the county. Get in touch if your area is interested

Thanks go to The Brewhouse, Halsway Manor and The Museum of Somerset for their total support, Take Art, the Society for Storytelling and Somerset County Council for making it possible and encouragement from the Bristol and Abergavenny Storytelling Festivals

We hope there will be something suitable for everyone with school and college projects, exhibitions and competitions, performances, activities and events for children and adults, as well as visits to the children's hospital and an elderly residential home

Good luck: I hope you all have a great itme and live happily ever after - but the Storytelling Festival in Wales that you've namechecked is in Aberystwyth not Abergavenny! They are two different places - a bit like Taunton and Tiverton .... see what I mean?
